FAQs about Faith in Action…

1. Well, first of all, what is Faith in Action, exactly?
Faith in Action is a four-week church-wide campaign that will transform our congregation, impact our community, and help our church touch the world with the love of Jesus.

2. What’s it all about?
During our Faith in Action month we will focus on biblical compassion, service, and Christ’s heart for those in need through special small groups, daily devotions, worship services, and opportunities for service.

3. How will we put our faith into action?
After three weeks of messages, devotions, and small group discussions focused on serving, we’ll celebrate a landmark day at Church of the Covenant on April 20 when we will CANCEL our worship services and instead go worship through service in our community. We’ll be able to say: The Church has left the building!

4. What kinds of projects will we be doing?
We are planning service opportunities for everyone in the congregation – from small kids to our senior saints. Everything from sprucing up the Memorial Garden at the Sellers Senior Center, to visiting residents in local nursing homes, to experiencing a day on the streets of Wilmington as a homeless person, to working with Urban Promise in Wilmington…and more!

5. Sounds great! How can I get involved?
There are several components to Faith in Action. We hope every member and friend of our church will take advantage of each one.
First: Plan to attend worship on March 30, April 6, and April 13 to hear the special Faith in Action messages. And invite a friend or neighbor to join you!
Second: Commit to 28 days of individual, daily devotions that will help guide you in your own personal journey of putting your faith into action.
Third: Get into a small group for 4 weeks beginning March 30 during Sunday School time or during the following week. There will be several groups meeting on Sunday mornings @ 9:45, as well as groups during the week. There will even be a group meeting in Newark for those living in that area!
Fourth: plan on serving on our Faith in Action Sunday, April 20. Then come and celebrate that evening as we worship and share what God has done in us and through us as we have served in His name!

6. Can I invite a friend or neighbor to help?
Absolutely! We want not only to serve those in our community, but we want to serve WITH those in our community.

7. How do I get materials, or sign up for a small group, or find out about a particular service opportunity?
There will be sign up sheets in the Cove (behind the elevator on the Sanctuary level) for small groups and service opportunities. Booklets describing these opportunities will be available March 16. The Participant Kit includes the small group study book and daily devotionals and will be available for $7; if this expense is a problem, the materials may be had for a reduced cost or NO cost!!
