We believe that the best way to become more connected to God and more connected to each other is to attend Worship weekly, PLUS find ONE class or group to help you grow spiritually and ONE way to serve others in ministry through our church. We call that "Worship + Two."
Here are some of the ways you can SERVE and SHARE your gifts at PCOC:
Counters: Sundays are a time for worship, prayer, giving thanks and giving back to God. However, with all that giving, we also need volunteer counters following the second service to count, record, and deposit the offerings. If you like numbers and would like to be of service to your church, please contact John Finley at oowala1@verizon.net for more information.
Covenant Cafe: Every Sunday morning the Cafe is a buzz with smiling faces sharing coffee and a snack between services. Join us and help us make this a fun time for fellowship by volunteering to help set-up and clean-up. Contact Leslie Carey at ohgullie@msn.com for more information and scheduling.
Edgemoor Community Clean-up: On the first Saturday of each month, volunteers meet at the Edgemoor Gardens Resource Center, 2 S. Rodney Drive, at 10:00 AM to lend a hand to help the residences of Edgemoor keep their neighborhood clean. For more information, contact Marlo King at marlomk19@comcast.net.
Emmanuel Dining Room: We are looking for individuals that would like to take time once, twice or even 3 times a year to: shop, cook, deliver/serve and serve. Those that have been serving in this mission enjoy it; we also have fun and best of all we help those in need. If interested please contact Leslie Carey at 478-6599 or at ohgullie@msn.com.
Greeters and Ushers: We are looking for friendly faces to welcome all who come to worship on Sunday mornings. Greeters are stationed at the outside East and West doors and in the Narthex to greet and hand out bulletins at the 9:15 and 11:00 services. Ushers help with collection plates. To volunteer for this fun and rewarding service, contact Dot Scott at dotnjims@verizon.net for more information and scheduling.
Hunger Sunday: We collect and deliver canned and non-perishable food items on the first Sunday of each month. This helps supply their food closet providing for those in need. Place your donations in the collection bin located in the hallway across from the Chapel.
Meeting Ground Donations: Meeting Ground operates Clairvaux Farm, near Earleville, Maryland, a 20-acre place of refuge for the homeless--including families with children, women and men. We collect and deliver needed items 4 to 5 times a year. Items needed include paper products, single-bed linens, blankets, men's, women's and children's clothing, baby items, Cleaning supplies, used clean towels, Plastics such as trash bags, food storage bags, plastic wrap, and canned or boxed food. Place your donations in the collection bin located in the hallway inside the east lawn doors.
Preschool Board Chair: Covenant Preschool is governed by a board made up of both church members and preschool parents. The board meets one evening a month August - June and works to address staffing, facility, financial, and educational issues for our chil-dren. Currently, the board is in need of a chair person. The chair person must be a church member. For more information about how you can serve our children in this vital community mission, contact Lori LaRue. DocLaRue@comcast.net.
