Founded in 1975, Covenant Preschool and Childcare provides a child-centered learning environment with Christian nurture. The school strives to develop the whole child - socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually.
Morning preschool classes (9:00-11:30 AM), before- and after-school extended care, and a summer day camp program are offered for children ages two- through five-years. Tuition assistance may be available based on financial need.
The Preschool Coordinator can be reached at (302) 764-8503.
Covenant Preschool News
Each month brings two Parent Coffee days when parents can enjoy coffee and camaraderie upstairs in the West Room. We hope parents will be able to take time to sit back and relax and enjoy time with other parents from our school.
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 4th from 8:30am-11:00am in the Chapel. Books will be available for preschool aged children along with some selections for Kindergarten-4th grade. In addition to the children's books, there will be cookbooks and religious books available. The book fair will be open at various times through Thursday, February 9th. Please stop by to browse at any time.
On Wednesday evening, February 8th, we will enjoy our VIP Night. Each preschooler will be able to choose one important adult in their life to bring to school to experience a "typical" preschool day. The children are always excited to show their VIPs just how much they accomplish each day!
Denise Enger of Child, Inc., will be joining us on Tuesday evening, February 21st, to discuss "Controlling Stress While Parenting". Free child care will be available for families during the presentation. This session is the first of several Parent/Staff Education Nights to be held this school year. The sessions are sponsored by a Partnering with Parents grant that provides us with the opportunity to do special activities with our preschool families.
Our preschool will be celebrating the diversity of both its staff and student body on March 23rd with a Heritage Dinner. Attendees will be bringing a pot-luck dish that represents their family to share with each other. Following dinner, Clem Bowen will provide entertainment with his story-telling. Mr. Bowen enthralled both children and adults at one of our functions last year, and we are very excited to have him back to share another of his stories with us.
Enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year is underway on an as-space-is-available basis. If you are interested in a Christian preschool experience for your child, or know of someone who may be interested, please contact Ellen Tyrawski in the Preschool Office at 764-8503 for information and/or a preschool tour.
Planning is currently underway for our annual Summer Day Camp Program. Our camp program will run for six weeks (mid-June through July), from 9:00am-2:00pm daily. The camp is for children aged three-five years. Children may attend for one week or up to all six. Each week will have a theme for fun. Further information will be available shortly. Please call the Preschool Office if you would like to receive a flyer and registration information when it is available.
Have you visited our preschool classrooms recently? Lots of activity has been taking place. Preschool staff members have been busy painting and rearranging to make every classroom bright, cheerful, and ready to provide the best early childhood education experience possible. The preschool was recently awarded $3300 from the Delaware Stars Program to purchase new curriculum materials. Many new items were purchased to help our students learn about science, literacy, language, mathematics, and the creative arts, as well as to assist them with emotional, social, physical and spiritual developments. We are very thankful for the grant and the quality improvements it has brought to our classes. Please plan to visit and see the wonderful changes we have put in place.
