Founded in 1975, Covenant Preschool and Childcare provides a child-centered learning environment with Christian nurture. The school strives to develop the whole child - socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually.

Morning preschool classes (9:00-11:30 AM), before- and after-school extended care, and a summer day camp program are offered for children ages two- through five-years. Tuition assistance may be available based on financial need.

Spring at Covenant Preschool

Things have been absolutely humming in May as we wind up our preschool year. Preschool families and friends gathered for our annual Ice Cream Social and Art Festival on May 8th. The walls were filled with amazing art projects completed by the students throughout the school year, and everyone was invited to splurge on ice cream and cake. Each preschool classroom contributed fun children's items for our basket raffles, and $166.00 was raised, bringing us ever-so-close to our $5,000.00 yearly goal. Hopefully that goal will be reached or even surpassed with the proceeds of our Spring Garage Sale scheduled for May 29th.

On May 12th, preschool staff and parents joined together for an educational session on "Helping Children Manage Anger" presented by Melanie Daul, MSW. The presentation was followed by refreshments and discussion. This was the first of what will be monthly educational offerings during the 2010-2011 school year.

Clem Bowen, a wonderful storyteller, joined us on May 19th and shared his music and stories with the preschoolers.

We are now accepting registrations for our 2010 Summer Day Camp. Based on the book Thinking Big, Learning Big by Marie Faust Evitt, our camp activities will connect science, math, literacy and language activities into one fun, learning experience. Thinking Big, Learning Big is an integrated, inquiry-based curriculum that allows children to learn by seeing, feeling and doing on a grand scale. Weekly activities will also include writing, art, cooking, dramatic play and gross motor fun. Camp will run for six weeks this year (June 14-July 23). Hopefully you have had an opportunity to walk through the Gold Classroom in the North wing and admire the custom-built bookshelves that now house the Preschool Library. The work was designed, built and installed by John Bovankovich of Attic to Basement LLC, 50 Hidden Valley Drive, Newark, DE. We are extremely pleased with the results of his labor!
